The difficulty of being understood when living with a debilitating condition one that is not merely physical but also social amplifies physical suffering with a heavy emotional burden. This piece of mine recounts the physical and psychological distress of those who, unfortunately, must battle their condition every day defending themselves against exposure to perfumes, detergents, fabric softeners, fresh paint, and car exhaust.
