The Fall in Ideology "Sprong van geloof" (Leap of Faith) is a confronting masterpiece that offers the listener no safe haven. It is a detailed observation of the anatomy of hate. Here, Nicart does not choose the path of abstraction, but names the symbols of evil directly and unvarnishedly. The result is a track that, thirty years later, has lost none of its urgency and leaves a deep impression thanks to its austere yet compelling musical setting. The lyrics are structured like an uncomfortable documentary, forcing the listener to 'look'. Musically, the track reflects the gravity and methodical nature of the text as an observation set to a compelling rhythm. "Sprong van geloof" is a courageous and necessary track on the album “De hamer slaat toe” (The Hammer Strikes). Here, John Nicart proves that he does not look away when society derails. By exposing the mechanisms of hate and appealing to the listener's sense of personal responsibility, the song transcends the role of mere entertainment. It is a dark, powerful beacon of reason in a time of blindness. Translated lyrics: Look at those men So intact Look at those men With beer in hand Look at those men From the early country Look at those men They don't eat Look at those men Even the displaced Look at those men They hate the strangers They are in front of his picture For their greeting For their God For their country For their family For their kin For their Klan Look at those men With only one big goal Look at those men Colors are wrong Look at those men With white masks They are in front of his picture For their greeting For their God For their country For their family For their kin For their Klan Look at those men Their new friends Look at those men With smooth skulls Look at those men At this birthday party They are in front of his picture For their greeting For their God For their country For their family For their kin For their Klan Look at that dead man With the little moustache Look at that dead man With the tight uniform Look at that dead man He does not disappoint them Look at that dead man A war in his name Look at that dead man He allows himself to be believed Look at that dead man He wasn't fooled They are in front of his picture For their greeting For their God For their country For their family For their kin For their people Then look at yourself Are you that kind of person Then look at yourself Are you the only seer When you look at yourself In the realm of the blind Then don't make that jump A leap of faith Then don't make that jump Before you hurt Then don't make that jump Have faith in yourself - Mastered by mixea.commore
