Rageen “RageMD” Rajendram’s hard hitting yet insightful lyricism is inspired by the uniqueness of his life experience. Born in Toronto to refugee Tamil-Sri Lankan parents, music provided him an outlet to find himself as a young man. As a doctor, he has had an up-close view of the highs and lows of modern life, which informs his adventurous yet classic songs. Although he was a diligent piano student, RageMD did not realize his passion for music until he discovered Michael Jackson. This opened a whole new world, as he went on to explore pop, R&B, and hip-hop, all of which would become integral to his sound. RageMD often felt like an outsider growing up, but music gave him a sense of belonging. Documenting his experiences with racism and mental health, he created the compelling body of work that would launch his career. RageMD debuted in 2017 with the ‘Day Off.’ With its jazz inspired grooves and silky-smooth vocals, the single served as the perfect indicator of things to come.
