Something very interesting about this song is that while I was writing it and developing the sound I was looking for, it ended up becoming the one that defined the entire album — that search for peace and for moving away from all our problems.
Verse 1
I wake up wearing yesterday,
the same mistakes, the same regret.
I learned to laugh at things I lost,
pretend it never hurt like this.
I watch my life from the outside,
like it belongs to someone else.
No tears left, no words to say,
just breathing through a private hell.
Chorus
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
by this Dose
Verse 2
I wake up wearing yesterday
learned how to rest where hope decays.
I don’t feel broken, I don’t feel whole,
just numb enough to make it through the day.
I don’t ask why, I don’t look up,
I stopped expecting something more.
The world keeps knocking on my chest,
but I don’t answer anymore.
Chorus
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
by this Dose
Bridge
No hands reach out, no one to blame,
this quiet eats me from the inside.
I didn’t fall, I didn’t fight,
I just stayed long enough to disappear.
Final Chorus / Outro
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
Swallowed by the Dose…
by this Dose
