I wake in quiet confusion,
Sleep feels like an illusion.
Dreams slip through like shadows,
but the nightmares come on cue.
Maybe that’s why I stay awake so late—
my mind already knows the truth.
It fears what waits behind closed eyes,
because nightmares are dreams too…
and I don’t want to relive them.
