Son Da One Son Da One born March 7, 1980 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The translation of his born name, Kaleo is the Hawaiian name defined as “The Voice.” Son Da One is a true poet and entertainer with a strong recognition of the power of the spoken word. His stage presence and delivery are dynamic and captivating. Each word is infused with profound meaning and dramatic imagery. Inspired by the elements and message of hip-hop culture, Son Da One was naturally drawn to graffiti, breaking, turntables and ultimately the art of spoken word, free-styling and emceeing. Son Da One's affiliation with hip-hop early on has led him to become one of the pioneers of the emerging culture in the state of Hawaii. Being involved by organizing in some of the first ciphers and poetry slams brought Son Da One in contact with like-minded individuals. From 2003-2005, Son Da One joined forces with The Highlanders, a Hawaii-based group who had a sound of their own, unlike anything heard in Hawaii.

Hawaii to Cali
This is a song about Son Da One; born on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, moving to Northern CA soon thereafter and returning when he was 10-years-old to Kauai. He left home at 17 and headed to Los Angeles and then Richmond/Oakland, CA area and went 'back again' to Hawaii, only to return a few years later to Humboldt County for 10 years, before finally returning home, back again. Great song for those who have two different places they call home.more

Hawaii To Cali
His words possess power and as a true poet and lyricist, Son Da One does not wield this sword lightly on his track, "Hawaii to Cali," an ode to his travels living between Hawaii and Cali as a kid and as an adult.. always returning home 'and back again!' The pen is his weapon and the page his canvas; it is through his words that he paints pictures, giving you views from that which was once paper walls.
