In Greek and Roman times, people would look for the panacea, the mythical cure to all diseases. They believed it could solve all problems, heal all diseases and wounds, and allow them to live forever. So now I must ask myself, is there a panacea for the disease that has been in our country since the start, but hasn’t really been acknowledged until now? Yes there is. It’s us, all of us. When we raise our voices together, we can bring change. As an artist who’s entire career is built from the work of many hardworking and talented people of color, I have a responsibility to them to raise my voice. It’s time to heal the wound.more
