Drew Dale is an emerging Australian songwriter whose work blends authentic lived experience with the emotional depth and narrative clarity that define the very best of our country music tradition. His writing is grounded in a lifetime shaped by service, family, Country, and the quiet resilience of working‑class Australia. What sets Drew apart is the honesty in his storytelling - he writes from real places, real moments, and real scars, and that truth comes through in every line. Drew’s songs carry the hallmarks of classic Australian country: strong narrative arcs, vivid landscapes, and characters who feel like people you’ve met. But he pairs that with a modern sensibility - clean structure, emotional intelligence, and a natural instinct for hooks and phrasing that suit today’s country‑rock sound. His work sits comfortably alongside artists like Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar‑Daley, The Wolfe Brothers, and Brad Cox. He writes with discipline and purpose, shaped by decades of military serv

Born on Palawa Land
Born on Palawa Land was written by me as a deeply personal act of truth‑telling grounded in lived experience, family history, and connection to Country. The lyrics and melody were created by drawing on my identity as a proud Dunghutti (Australian Aboriginal) man born on Palawa Country in Tasmania. The song reflects the complex reality of growing up between two worlds, one shaped by Aboriginal community, culture, and belonging, and the other shaped by silence, distance, and the pressures of assimilation. The narrative honours the people who helped shape my early life, including the Palawa families who offered acceptance, guidance, and cultural grounding when it was needed most. It acknowledges the strength of Elders, the resilience of community, and the quiet power of stories passed down through generations. The song also speaks to the emotional truth of reclaiming heritage that was once hidden or softened to survive, and the pride that comes from standing firmly in that identity today. more
