One Hundred Sixty (Liberty Hall Session)
Some love stories last a lifetime, and we often admire them. Others come to an end because separation becomes inevitable. But we rarely talk about what happens next.
When two people have built a life together, not everything can be divided overnight. There are children, a home, loans, bills, routines and commitments... responsibilities that continue long after the relationship has ended.
This song focuses on the moment when that balance disappears. Responsibilities don't vanish, they still have to be carried. Yet sometimes, one person gradually steps away from them, emotionally, financially or practically, leaving the other to absorb more and more of the load. Sometimes they don't even realize it's happening. It isn't always intentional. The responsibilities simply shift until the imbalance starts to feel almost normal.
160% is a metaphor for that imbalance. When two people each carry 100%, together they create 200%. After the breakup, one person may regain a relatively light life, with free weekends, quiet evenings and the opportunity to meet new people. The responsibilities haven't disappeared... they've simply moved.
Meanwhile, the other person is still raising the children, handling the unexpected, attending appointments, helping with homework, paying shared bills, carrying debts and managing everything that doesn't stop just because a relationship has ended. They are no longer living at 100%, but at 160%.
160% doesn't try to assign blame. It describes a reality that can exist after some breakups, where the shared weight gradually settles onto one person's shoulders, sometimes for months, sometimes for years, and sometimes without either person fully realizing how unbalanced it has become.
====================
[VERSE ]
The day we split, the walls stayed standing still
But every promise landed with the bills
The keys were shared, the silence wasn't split
Somehow your freedom was expensive here to live with
The school still calls the very same old phone
The fever still prefers the nights alone
You left the house with half the furniture gone
I stayed behind with everything that carries on
[PRE-CHORUS]
Weight obeys no broken vows
It always finds somebody now
[CHORUS]
I'm living at one hundred sixty percent
The missing forty never disappeared
Every unpaid moment found my door
Every empty promise hit my floor
You walked away lighter than before
I became the bridge from shore to shore
The weight had to belong somewhere in the end
Now I'm living... one hundred sixty percent
[VERSE]
Another meeting... another pair of shoes
Another month of choosing what to lose
Homework at midnight, groceries at eight
Learning how exhaustion quietly waits
You found new weekends I can't even see
Mine disappear inside responsibility
The calendar keeps asking more of me
While yours keeps filling up with possibility
[PRE-CHORUS]
Love may end between two hearts
The workload doesn't fall apart
[CHORUS]
I'm living at one hundred sixty percent
The missing forty never disappeared
Every unpaid moment found my door
Every empty promise hit my floor
You walked away lighter than before
I became the bridge from shore to shore
The weight had to belong somewhere in the end
Now I'm living... one hundred sixty percent
[BRIDGE]
Children never asked for sides
Rent still comes... and time still flies
Laundry... birthdays... sleepless nights
None of them can read our fights
Responsibilities don't break in two
They simply look for someone who
Will carry more than they should do
[OUTRO]
I'm living at one hundred sixty percent
Trying to make one heartbeat represent
Everything we promised long ago
Everything they never need to know
If love was shared, then why this load?
If freedom's real... who pays the road?
Somebody always bears the difference in the end
Mine became one hundred sixty percent.more
