Picture of You is based on a true story.
Once I was driving my car to work and I was stuck in traffic ,for some reason I turned my head back and I saw this beautiful girl in my review mirror, driving the car behind me, I couldn't help but stare as she pulled down her sunglasses, probably unaware that I was looking at her.
Obviously a few minutes later, the cars started moving again and since then I have never seen her again, but this episode made me reflect on the sensations I felt.
You could say that I felt nostalgic for something I didn't know, a sort of liminal sensation, which I also tried to recreate in the sounds of the song.
In fact, the instruments that you can hear in the song are the result of the reworking of 80s sounds and synthesizers, which give the music a strange sort of vague nostalgia for something that people like me, from generation Z, have never been able to experience.
There are several references to the pop culture of the 2010s, a period that has always intrigued me in terms of sound and which is linked to my childhood/pre-adolescence, so to recreate that liminal feeling I returned to those sounds.
It was precisely this song that convinced me to follow the path of liminal music, however applied to various other genres, in this case a cross between pop, r&b, chillwave and lo-fi.
The artwork is an actual painting portrait of an imaginary woman, made by an Italian artist.more
