Yedid Nefesh
Yedid Nefesh is a 16th century poem that normally kicks off your Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat service. The lyrics are commonly attributed to the sixteenth century kabbalist Rabbi Elazar ben Moshe Azikri and this version features a well-known traditional melody. Interestingly, the first letter of each verse (YEH·DEED יְדִיד / HA·DOOR הָדוּר / VAH·TEEK וָתִיק / HE·GAH·LEH הִגָלֶה) spells G-d's four letter name (י·ה·ו·ה‬). This is from an album called Persian Swords which came out in 2019. We believe that any sufficiently advanced music is indistinguishable from magic. more
