Vogue ballroom music (commonly known as vogue beat, vogue house, or simply ballroom music) is a highly rhythmic, upbeat subgenre of electronic dance music (EDM) born out of the Black and Latino LGBTQ+ ballroom culture of New York City during the late 1980s and 1990s.Structurally built around a fast-paced 4/4 house beat (typically 115–130 BPM), it functions as the definitive soundtrack for the underground dance form known as voguing. The genre is characterized by its minimalist production, aggressive syncopated percussion, dramatic buildups, and repetitive vocal chants delivered by a ballroom commentator.
