"REPLY" was born from an idea I've lived through myself, and one that many people have probably experienced at some point.
Sometimes there comes a moment when you already know the answer. Not because it was spoken. Precisely because it never was.
When someone hesitates for a long time between two paths, between two people, a part of me eventually understands what that hesitation means. My mind already knows that if I were truly an obvious choice, the question probably wouldn't exist anymore.
That's when a boundary appears.
In this song, I end up saying: "Don't text me again."
It's not a threat. It's not anger. It's not even a way of punishing someone.
It's simply the moment when I finally accept the answer I never received.
But that's also where the entire contradiction of "Reply" lives.
Because at the exact moment I draw that line, another truth continues to exist in silence.
My mind already knows the negative answer.
But my heart also knows the other one.
The one that requires no reflection.
The one that doesn't compare.
The one that doesn't place anyone in competition.
The one that doesn't hesitate.
The obvious choice.
That duality is what inspired me. An idea that reminds me of the famous line from Le Cid: "Go, I do not hate you."
The words say one thing.
The subtext says another.
When I sing "Don't text me again," I accept that reality's answer is probably no.
But somewhere between the lines, I'm still whispering:
"Don't text me if you're still hesitating."
"Don't text me if you're still comparing."
"Don't text me if you're still searching."
A part of me is convinced it already knows the answer. But whether that answer will ever exist in reality is another story.
========================================
#VERSE
He leaves you waiting on replies
Then says he just needs space sometimes
I won't say he's a narcissist
But he's checking every box on the list
You keep collecting red flags
Still saying every warning sign's alright
Everybody sees the signs, bigger than hashtags
Except the one who's living it tonight
#PRE-CHORUS
Every time you tell the story
The ending never really changes
Still you're looking for the glory
In something that feels strange
#CHORUS
Why do you text me and never really reply?
Your WhatsApp views are always instant, don't lie
Why do your messages feel so programmed?
I know you'd be better with me, not only on Instagram
I know I could give you what you need
But if all our moments together don't plant the seed
You still can't see the difference between my love and his pain
I won't block your name, don't text me again
#VERSE
One good weekend buys more time
For old excuses dressed to shine
You call it working through hard times
I call it crossing warning signs
A few green flags appear again
Just enough to pull you back in pain
Every time you're ready to leave
Something makes you stay and grieve
#PRE-CHORUS
Another promise, another reason
Another chance to make a new season
Yet the answer you're protecting
Keeps you awake at night, bleeding
#BRIDGE
Take his hand
Take mine
Choose the future you believe in
But if your heart still needs time
To decide between us tonight
Then the answer isn't hidden
It's already been given
#OUTRO
So choose him
If that's where your feelings stay
I'd rather lose you completely
Than watch you hesitate
Choose him
And let the answer finally be
Because the right love never wonders
Who it's meant to bemore
