LEAVES U IN THE BLUE Wrote this damn song like 50+ diff times. Hook never changed tho. Every time I thought I finally nailed it, life would throw another curveball, a verse would hit different, or I’d catch myself over-explaining shit that didn’t need explaining. Started writing it from the view of a guy who’s spent way too many years gone from the ppl he loves. But the more I tore it apart & put it back together, the clearer it got… this ain’t about being a pilot, the military, or any one reason for leaving. Sometimes distance is the job. Sometimes it’s straight-up fear. Sometimes life just gets too heavy & we bounce before we figure out how to stay. And sometimes we sell ourselves the same tired lie… “just 1 more night” feels easier than admitting we don’t even know how to come home anymore. That’s the part I wanted. Cuz u can be a thousand miles away… or sitting right next to somebody… & still feel like u’re in a whole different world. This one’s for anybody who’s left when they should’ve stayed, stayed when every bone in their body wanted to run, or spent too long thinking there’d always be another night to fix it. Didn’t write it perfect. Hell, I rewrote it about 50 times trying to. Maybe that’s the point. Some things don’t come out clean the 1st time. U keep scratching at ‘em, ripping ‘em up, piecing ‘em back together… until u realize the cracks were the song the whole time. For the ppl we love, the roads we take, the distance we create, & the places we somehow keep finding our way back to. This one wasn’t run through the “make everything perfect” machine … it’s got the rough edges, real emotion, & the energy of the moment still intact. I added a little reverb for atmosphere, but this is raw … not a polished, shiny studio version.
