A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Shawn Heming’s grandfather gave him his first guitar when he was just 7 years old. Shawn would sit at his grandfather’s feet and listen to him play for hours. After a few years he began studying jazz and classical guitar, eventually earning a degree in jazz guitar performance and a master’s in education. Growing up in a musical family, Heming was surrounded by country, bluegrass, gospel, and rock music. Foremost a guitarist, mandolinist, songwriter, and producer, Heming is known for incorporating diverse influences and blending genre’s in his original music. His original music blends electronic, jazz, rock, and bluegrass into an eclectic mix. Along with his solo work, you can hear his guitar and mandolin performances in his bands, Black Friday and Porch Setters Union.
