Show Dem was birthed in the place of prayer, tears, grief and pain. I had just lost my dad and my mom being sick for many years, was placed on watch as her Bp and Sugar level skyrocketed after the passing of her beloved husband and friend. Getting a call from my sister that mama was not doing so well health-wise, shattered me the more, especially being thousands of miles away from home. While going through these trying experiences and worrying about my dad laying stone cold in the mortuary, coupled with mother's health condition, this song erupted in my spirit that night as I was driving (midnight actually) amidst prayers and tears, after that phone conversation with my sister. I quickly took out my phone and recorded it instantly so as not to forget it. When I returned home from work the following morning, I went straight to my studio, fleshed out the song and began the process of recording it. Then end result is a Song that is capable of making you laugh and cry, dance and pray simultaneously, especially if you understand Igbo language. Recorded in 3 distinct languages (Pidgin English, Igbo and English languages) and in the Popular Nigerian Highlife genre which was my dad's most favourite music genre, Show Dem is doubles as a spiritual warfare prayer/song and a declaration of faith that only God's will, will be done no matter how much the enemy tries. We think about the things we’ve lost or things that could have been better, if only we had our plans all worked out as intended, thereby losing sight of the numerous simple (tangible and intangible), but beautiful things of life that we have been blessed to enjoy. Something I am sometimes guilty of, just like the others... But as a Christian I believe that the blessings of God are accessible to everyone and even more so to those who believe and trust in him. This is what inspired the song Kele ya. It reminds us of God’s blessings upon those who trust him and encourages us to give him thanks always no matter the circumstances.
