Here’s the story: I’m still working on my EP, but had to stop for a minute to reflect and to write this song. It’s called “What’s Gonna Happen Brother (A Song for Marvin)”. The reason why I chose to write it is because of all the crazy stuff that’s happening in our country…in our world. All of these worldly events always bring me to a Marvin Gaye song, because his lyrics and music spoke volumes on the problems faced on the past (when the songs were first released) and the same problems existing today…right now. Marvin is one of my all-time favorite artists, and after watching Spike Lee’s “DA 5 BLOODS” and hearing Marvin Gaye songs in the scenes, it even inspired me further to complete the song. The late Chadwick Boseman starred in this movie as well. This song is for all of those that fought the good fight and are continuing to fight the good fight, and to those that inspired and continue to inspire. With that being said, this song is especially for you. And to those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy some great Marvin Gaye music, listen to some and educate yourself on the messages in them (What’s Going On, What’s Happening Brother, Mercy Mercy Me, Inner City Blues, etc;). Now that we’ve been speaking out, protesting, marching, and becoming more visible on our principles, what’s gonna happen now? That is the question. Some of you are still wondering who I am.
