I, myself may not even understand what I am singing about at the time of creation. When a melody and lyrics play strongly in my head at the same time I know the studio is calling and this song needs to be let out. Hold Your Breath is a good example of this. I have found multidimensional meanings for it but perhaps the strongest view is about collective anxiety caused by the current world situation. Everyone is holding breath, no one knows what the future will bring when it comes. Uncertainty is the heaviest travel companion and one cannot live with it completely carefree. The only thing we can root ourselves in at this moment is breathing. The song also raises the question of where that anxiety is built - who owns my roar? This two-year period has certainly changed something in all of us. Not only have we got stuck in our homes, we are certainly encapsulated in ourselves as well. In such a world situation it is important to outline which things are the ones we can influence ourselves and which are the ones where we have no power to choose, so we can only breathe and trust in the future.” -Blackbird more
