Consciousness was written in two halves. Its a song very much about mental health and toxic people and how they can get into your head. Don't let them! The first part I wrote in February 2023, it was a time when I was dealing with a lot of stuff and one day I went for a walk, I wasn't in a good place. It was a cold misty winters day in a Northern town and there really were tears in my eyes I could barely see where I was going I was so engrossed in the stuff going on inside my head. Fast forward to the Summer time and I'd started to figure out what was going on. Toxic people can really dominate your mind, but the energy is in what you give those thoughts. The song discusses this and says push them out, it really makes no difference to them how much energy you put into overthinking. Give yourself a break is what I was saying to myself. For the music nerds, the time signature switches from 3/4 to 4/4 and the mode changes too.
