Part Of The Show
A nostalgic song about the transformative power of live music and the beauty of human connection. It uses a "coming-of-age" narrative to show how a single moment can provide a sense of belonging that lasts a lifetime. It starts with childlike wonder (stars in eyes, waiting all day) and transitions into a soulful, reflective tribute. "The Twenty-Second Row" vs. "The Front Row": This represents the journey from being a spectator to being a participant. In the front row, Johnnie Ray isn't just watching; he is included. I was a little kid, with stars in my eyes, when the band came to town to play my buddies an i , we were all excited, cause for sure, we'd waited all day The air was electric as we stood on our chairs, and everyone around us, was standing on theirs, as the lights went down, the band started up and the crowd began to sing The sun's comin'....like a rolling stone The clock's ticking'.... but we're not alone I knew all the words...they felt like my own I could smell the spirit, in the air you know They put a spell on me, in the twenty-second row The band had me feeling, like I was part of the show There was a tug on my shirt, from Johnnie Ray next to me, I saw tears in his eyes cause he couldn't see, I forgot he couldn't stand at all, I put the blame on me His was electric so we moved our chairs, and everyone around us was moving theirs, he and I went up, the crowd settled down, and we all began to sing The sun's comin'....like a rolling stone The clock's ticking.... but we're not alone We knew all the words....they felt like our own We could smell the spirit, in the air you know They put a spell on us, that night in the front row The band had us feeling, like we were part of the show Johnnie Ray passed away, soon after that day, but what he said made me smile He said "I'm thankful that I got to be part of something, just, for a little while" The sun's comin'....like a rolling stone The clock's ticking.... but he's not alone He knew all the words....they felt like his own He could smell the spirit, in the air you know They put a spell on him, that night in the front row That was the day, that he was part of the showmore
