Red River Sweater
This song was written to bring awareness of missing and murdered indigenous women on Treaty 1 territory, in the Red River Valley. On my drive home, I saw red flags and a red sweater hanging from a highway bridge. Each flag was placed there to represent a missing family member, friend or community member. The Red Sweater was new... mysterious, dark and drenched with rain water. It was ghostly and caught my eye. Then words flooded my mind and I had to immediately pull over to record my thoughts. This song is the result of seeing the Red Sweater that day. Who did it belong to? Are they safe now? Have their family and friends found peace? All questions I will never know the answer to. more
