In honor of Memorial Day, I’m reposting this track for my buddy I lost during a classified operation.
Almost didn’t release this one. Sat on it for a long time. Played it late at night, shut it off halfway more times than I can count. Felt like opening a door I’d welded shut. Kept asking myself, “u sure about this?” More than once… I wasn’t.
This one’s for my brother, LT Eric Das. We flew together. Trusted each other w/ everything that matters at altitude—& everything that never gets said once we’re back on the ground.
It always starts the same way…
“U good?”
“yeah… I’m good. same as always.”
Routine. Calm. Professional. Clean checklist. Steady radios. Nothing out of place… until something is.
Every pilot knows that moment.. the split second when the world just… tilts. One second you’re in formation, the next you’re chasing something u can’t explain across empty sky.
They’ll write it up in neat language. “Mechanical failure.” “Under review.” “Classified.” Clean words. Empty boxes.
But none of that sounds like:
“Lead… we’ve been hit.”
U don’t forget that. U don’t outrun it. Doesn’t matter how fast the jet is… it follows you home. Sits with u in silence. Shows up when it wants to.
“stand down.”
“don’t talk about it.”
“let it go.”
Yeah… heard that too.
But some calls don’t fade. Some voices never leave the frequency.
This song isn’t just something I wrote. It’s something I carry.
Every unsaid word. Every replayed moment. Every “what if” that never lands.
This is “All I Want.”
And if u listen close… you’ll hear him in it.
“Lead… I’m good.”
Yeah, brother… I still hear u.more
