this song is about my struggle with religion growing up as a queer person. i grew up in an extremely religious household (like.. you know televangelists? my parents were heavy into that, and they even co owned a church for about seven years of my childhood) and that mixed with being nonbinary AND gay is... a recipe for a very unkind upbringing, to put it lightly. this is about my escape, my freedom from that hell. i wanna make something beautiful out of my trauma so that others don't feel so alone in theirs. because you're not, no matter what.more
