“God, Please Give Me One More Ride” (TEXAN)
**** 30Sep26 (UPDATED) TEXAN Version ***** Another one for my Beloved Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) - in addition to my “Riders Of Honor” “God, Please Give Me One More Ride” is a deeply personal orchestral country tribute told from the perspective of an aging Patriot Guard Rider who is still answering the call after years on the road. The song begins with the familiar moment that starts every mission — a message on the phone, another family in need, another time and destination. From there comes the quiet ritual: the smell of coffee in the morning, pulling on the boots and vest, packing the Harley, checking the flag and straps, and preparing for another long ride under the Texas sun and heat. As the journey unfolds, the song reflects on the passage of time. The rider sees more gray in the mirror, feels the miles in his knees, and remembers when the motorcycle lines were longer and familiar faces were everywhere. Some of those riders have passed on, some can no longer ride, and some motorcycles now sit silent in garages. Their names and memories remain stitched into the meaning of every mission. The song is not about recognition or being seen. It is about showing up quietly for grieving families, standing a flag line, escorting a fallen hero, and honoring people whose names the rider may never have known before that day. It captures the belief that sometimes silence, presence, and a flag held steady can say more than any speech ever could. Musically, the song is designed as a cinematic Texas country duet with a deep, weathered male baritone as the primary voice and an emotional female harmony that gradually grows throughout the song. The arrangement blends acoustic guitar, fiddle, violin, pedal steel guitar, cello, viola, and full orchestral strings. The orchestra should feel substantial and cinematic, not merely decorative, building from an intimate opening into a large, emotional final chorus while still remaining grounded in authentic country instrumentation. There is no piano, no spoken narration, and no talk-singing — every lyric is fully sung. At its heart, the song is a prayer. The rider asks God for the strength to make one more journey, hold one more flag, stand beside one more family, and ride one more mile. He knows there will come a day when his own engine goes silent, his helmet stays home, and another rider takes his place in the line. Until then, he will keep answering the call. And when that day finally comes, he hopes someone else will carry the flag, remember the name, and someday ride for him. more
