Pleistocene Park (original Hazy Daze unreleased version)
This song was recorded in July 2020 across four recording sessions with the band I was in at the time, Hazy Daze. This song was later re-recorded by me in June-July 2021 and it was included as the second track on my debut solo record "Pleistocene Dreams." "Pleistocene Dreams" was originally intended to be a Hazy Daze album, although it was left primarily incomplete. Hazy Daze's lead guitarist Brett Moseley's solo to this song that was recorded during the sessions for this particular version was included on my solo version of this song. I laid down my acoustic-electric guitar track and initial lead vocal track around July 17, 2020 (I honestly don't remember the exact dates.) Drums, electric guitars, electric bass, background vocals, and keyboard tracks were recorded in the night-early morning of around July 18-19, 2020 (I'm guesstimating once again; those tracks were recorded in mid-July,) the final take of Brett Moseley's guitar solo and more keyboard overdubs were overdubbed the week afterwards, finally, I overdubbed my final lead vocal track sometime in mid-August. This track was recorded during the majority of the very brief time Hazy Daze was a six-piece group. Our original intention was to be a five or six-piece group. Lead guitarist Brett Moseley parted ways with Hazy Daze in late August 2020, and co-lead guitarist Michael Richardson was dismissed from as a band member shortly thereafter in early September 2020. Hazy Daze was left as a four piece for the majority of our time together as a group. Tensions and stress grew with me and I was having burnouts, so we started back recording in October and November 2020. By then, we had only played three very small local gigs. In early February 2021, Hazy Daze was planning to reconvene as a live performing group when concerns regarding gig planning began to grow more and more exasperating. Hazy Daze broke up in late February 2021. We left around ten studio-recorded songs unfinished and or unreleased. We released two singles in September 2020. Personnel: Drake Jennings: Korg Poly-800 synthesizer and background vocals. Michael Polland: Rickenbacker 4003 electric bass. Isaac Hayes: drum kit (1970s Slingerland four piece kit.) Michael Richardson: Gibson SG electric guitar (with wah-wah pedal) and background vocals. Brett Moseley: Epiphone Riviera P93 electric guitar (for guitar solo.) Ryan Downing: Epiphone J-200SCE or Recording King parlor? (I don't remember) acoustic-electric guitar and lead vocals. Eric Jennings: Mixing and mastering.more
