I have been listening to lots of japanese music these last months, so I wanted to compose a piece based on japanese musical motives. "Tatemae" is an original piano composition, contrasting most of my music being improvised. Its name comes from the japanese words "honne" and "tatemae", the latter meaning façade, the expected behavior and opinions shown in public. I feel like out of all my music, this is the side most people will enjoy, what they expect from music. On the other side, "honne" means the true feelings and desires of a person. But there is no piece of mine called "honne" since all my music expresses my true feelings, as a trait from improvisation.more
