Being close to Halloween, I thought it was fitting. I have always been a fan of Freddy. The first verse describes me as being the "Dream Demon". The hook is just a reminder that when you fall asleep the nightmare will begin. The second verse is actually a different approach. I switch views. Now I am the victim, trying to stay awake, for the most part, although you do hear a phrase or two that references me being the monster still but it is just a reminder.
