Originally written in 2014 during a deeply significant relationship - “Angels & Demons” (Track 13 on Psychedelia!) is one of ClarkyArtist's most personal songs. The track uses the imagery of 'angels and demons' to explore the emotional contrasts that exist between two people in love — the tenderness, the arguments, the doubts, the commitment, and the unspoken truths that only they share. The opening line references Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” — pulling the listener into a quiet moment: reflecting on everything that feels both beautiful and heavy at the same time. Musically, the foundation is ClarkyArtist’s own re-creation of the song: 'Angels' by: 'The XX' — completely rebuilt from scratch to match the sound he originally imagined when writing the lyrics. The track also features some beautifully haunting female vocals from an unnamed singer who requested to remain anonymous — ClarkyArtist sampled and placed ONLY the lines that tied DIRECTLY into the emotional points of his verse. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Laid-Back Studios, “Angels & Demons” feels raw, atmospheric, and painfully honest — a moment in time preserved in music, where love and inner conflict collide.more
