Lyric wise I based it on the brief "Sleepwalking is about coping, longing for a place, a feeling or a person that shelters you from the pressures and the burden of external expectations and judgement. In the song, Sleepwalking is a lyrical and visual metaphor for how we can be 'getting through' our days on autopilot without being present" So I took that information and flipped in it my usual way and used a few key terms from the brief. The middle 16 was originally a rap also but sounded better sung. I think it helped to make the song a little bit longer. As we were only working from an acapella that was about a minute long.
