KINTSUGI - THE ART OF BEING BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN
Working on an album with a Japanese Instrumental sound fused with a post grundge/ Grundge metal feel to it.
KINTSUGI - AARON STEELE
The track "Kintsugi" is a sophisticated blend of modern percussion and traditional Japanese textures, centered on the philosophy of finding beauty in brokenness.
Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is a beautiful Japanese art form and philosophy that literally translates to "golden joinery" or "golden repair."
It is the practice of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
The Philosophy: Beauty in Imperfection
Beyond the technical craft, Kintsugi is deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics and philosophy, specifically:
• Wabi-sabi: The celebration of the imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
• Mushin: The concept of "no mind," which includes acceptance of change and fate as aspects of human life.
• Resilience: Instead of hiding the "scars" of an object, Kintsugi highlights them. The breakage is treated as a valuable part of the object’s history, rather than something that ruins it.
The Result
In the world of Kintsugi, the repaired item is often considered more beautiful and valuable than the original, unbroken piece. It serves as a powerful metaphor for human experience—suggesting that our own flaws and "breaks" can make us stronger and more unique.
[KINTSUGI - AARON STEELE]
"There is beauty in the cracks where the light gets in."
Experience the fusion of traditional Japanese artistry and modern rhythmic soul. "Kintsugi" explores the concept of healing and transformation, using the metaphor of the ancient Japanese craft of repairing broken pottery with gold.
[LYRICS]
(Verse 1)
Everything is changing, everything is gold
In the lines of the breaking, there’s a story told
Fading in the edges, blurring at the seams
We are more than the shadows of our broken dreams
(Chorus)
Kintsugi, we’re shining through the cracks
Kintsugi, there’s no turning back
Faded but the light is finding its way home
In every piece that’s shattered, we are not alone
(Verse 2)
Silver in the silence, lacquer in the scars
Tracing out the distance between us and the stars
The resonance is heavy, the rhythm is a ghost
Finding what we needed when we lost the most
(Chorus)
Kintsugi, we’re shining through the cracks
Kintsugi, there’s no turning back
Faded but the light is finding its way home
In every piece that’s shattered, we are not alone
(Outro)
Faded...
We are golden...
Faded...
In the breaking...
