My musical journey started with a Tonette recorder, to Farfisa organ, to shakuhachi, to violin, to Casio CZ synth with a Pignose amp, to an Arp Odyssey, to the Launay-King custom guitar (the first guitar with integrated digital effects) to an in-the-box recording studio! My teachers were the wind & rain of a mystical mountain realm at gatherings of other Sierra Nevada recluses playing around campfires in the still nights of the "Appalachia of the West". I later became an early adopter of "electronic computer music" and began composing musical "mindscapes", ambient music using the SID processor, the sound chip in the Commodore 64. I coupled the organic instruments and forest atmospheres with vibrating digital circuits. In 1990 I moved to Austin, TX, "The Live Music Capital of the World". This exposed me to Stevie Ray and more. I remember sitting in his recording studio by Town Lake (after his death); If only ghosts could talk...
