I grew up in St. Paul, MN listening to mostly Christian music and Ace of Bass (thanks to my cousin, Pammy)... DC Talk, Fold Zandura, Audio Adrenaline, Reality Check, Supertones, Skillet. I always craved heavier music, and my friend introduced me to Zao and Living Sacrifice -- which blew my mind. In my rebellious years I listened to secular artists like Sevendust (high school, junior year favorite) and Static-X. Chevelle hit the scene, and I was into them. I also loved music with piano and strings like Coldplay and Keane. Radiohead was an obvious like. Evanescence was huge. Thrice's Vheissu absolutely blew me away, and I loved headbanging to Artist In The Ambulance. I think because I was mainly into Christian music, I loved the "underground" sound and bands. I love alternative, rock, metal, instrumental (Russian Circles, This Will Destroy You), classical, jazz, and everything in-between. I mainly write songs on the piano and my 7-string guitar I bought when I was 15 (23 years ago).
