Born Carrington Jordan-Marcel Ardoin, Mar$el was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Portland, Oregon with his 3 siblings, in which he’s the oldest. He moved to Portland at the age of 3 when his father accepted a job at the Nike headquarters. His parents are the reason he got introduced to music. They would listen to all artists and genres such as Mystikal, Too $hort, 50 cent, Whitney Houston, Timbaland, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Kirk Franklin, and more. His father even built his own home studio where he would have Mar$el and his siblings record songs. As he got older he began perfecting his sound, and have been influenced by artists like J.Cole, Future, Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z, Drake, and more. Mar$el’s songs are motivational, catchy, and keep you moving.
