Born in Nashville, Tennessee, GATLIN KATE JAMES was no stranger to music. At four years old, she began her career as a session vocalist. She was signed to a national talent agency for acting at 6, and at 11, her love of songwriting bloomed. By 14, she formed a band with her older brother, Cooper, called "Cooper & Gatlin". The duo signed a deal with a Capital Records subsidiary label, Deepwell Records, owned by Adam Anders (Glee). However, after two years of writing sessions and "building a brand" before release, the band decided the 'label life' wasn't for them. So, striking out on their own, they independently debuted four consecutive singles and music videos, "Break", "Like You", "Fragile", and "On Your Mind", which gathered over 7.1M streams on Spotify and 5.8M+ views on Youtube. In 2019, the band went their separate ways. Gatlin moved to Oklahoma with her husband, Austin James. Now in 2023, Gatlin has a renewed passion for music and released her new EP, “The EP”, on March 24th.
