Born and raised in Barbados, Dario Young, stage name "General D", was always involved in many activities in his community, such as dancing, soccer and table tennis. He was an enthusiastic participant until, one day, he heard his childhood friend, Miguel Phillips, singing. He thought it was both beautiful and interesting.The very next morning at school he decided he would give it a try while his friends were beating on the desks. Since that moment, he knew it was something he wanted to continue doing everyday.
In February of 2006, Dario migrated to the United States to attend school. While in class, the students were doing the same thing- beating on the desks and singing. These daily sessions became his motivation and passion. From that, he decided to write his own reggae music/dancehall. After graduating school, Dario’s previous classmate introduced him to soca music, which he ended up loving. He went to Best Fm radio station where DJ Tragic heard him sing and saw his unmatched pot.
