In 2015, Hoy Sam! was formed out of a passion for creating music and finding a sense of relaxation and reset from the daily grind of their day jobs. The group thought Hoy Sam! was a catchy name with a humorous recall—inspired by Sherwin’s daughter named Sam who, because of her show-off antics, would always be shouted at, yet endearingly. Thus, Hoy Sam! was born, and so would the bond of these long-time friends continue as they make their quirks work and define their own brand of music. In late 2018, they learned that "hoi sam" in Cantonese means "happy" - derived from the root words "hoi" (open) and "sam" (heart). Members: Karl Piga Froi Fabella Wen Sertimo NJ Asetre Pat Dizon
