Joanne Jerilee Claudine Caroline Tholel, better known as JERELEE, is an up-and-coming singer with Surinamese roots. She combines soulful gospel, R&B, and Caribbean influences into her own unique sound.
Growing up in Amsterdam and Almere, JERELEE began writing music and developing her singing talent at a young age. Her passion for music was sparked by the diverse musical environment she was raised in: the Latin and soul music her father always played, the Surinamese cultural music her mother sang, the gospel from the church she attended, and the hip-hop/R&B that her brothers and sisters listened to.
In church, JERELEE discovered that music was more than just beautiful tones and melodies. She realized that music is a powerful tool that can be used to connect, build, and even heal.
In 2016, JERELEE released her first single with her former band 'The Dubbeez', called Hangover. This was the beginning of several successful projects, including the EP Dubby and the album Peace, Love and Dub
