Jason Merrick Carnell, known to friends simply as Merrick, is a soul, blues, funk, and country songwriter based in Perth, Australia. Every song is written by Jason, then brought to life using digital audio workstations (DAWs), AI-assisted production, and meticulous creative direction to create music that's raw, soulful, and, at its core, deeply human. Wearing his signature cowboy hat and embracing an alternative Western aesthetic, Merrick cuts a distinctive figure somewhere between a dusty highway and a smoke-filled blues bar. His music draws from the deep emotion of soul, the grit of the blues, the groove of funk, and the storytelling tradition of country, delivering songs that are honest, timeless, and built to move. Independent at heart, Jason Merrick Carnell continues to release original music that puts songwriting first—music with character, heart, and a voice all its own.
