Jodie Chan is a singer-songwriter whose favorite instrument is her voice. Born and bred in Hong Kong to a family of music aficionados, she acquired a taste for performing young at the age of 9 and continued through college, where she joined Northwestern University’s only East Asian a cappella group Treblemakers.
Her songs feature relaxing rhythms and luxurious melodies, potently weaving poignant yet supple vocals over a stripped-back tapestry of acoustic guitar and longing piano, with stirring refrains evocative of Broadway ballads and glorious praise songs.
Jodie openly identifies as “Christian, queer, and a number of many other things, but most importantly - not one thing”. Her music is an extension of her own beliefs in the importance of inclusion, diversity, and the difficult conversations that move us in that direction.
