Mason DeFoe makes get-to-the-point music intended to invoke real human emotions rather than fumbling around with immoderate language and pretentious chords. Reminiscent of Sonic Youth’s noise, Joy Division's even-ness, and Buzzcock’s poppy melodies, Mason combines new tunings, unconventional recording styles, and a monotone vocal delivery into his unique mix. Mason specializes in what he calls Noise-Pop, a blend of the pop he grew up listening to, the punk music he worshipped, and the noise rock he’s infatuated with. Innovative recordings aren’t the only achievement under the solo artist's belt, he also cultivates a captivating and invigorating live performance for his fans to experience at face value. His lyrical inspiration comes from internet incidents, b-rated movies, the church, and growing up in the late 2000s.
