John Richard is a soul and R&B singer-songwriter whose music explores love, identity, heartbreak and the experiences that shape us. Inspired by artists including Adele, Gabrielle Aplin and Lauren Aquilina, John's sound combines soulful vocals with intimate, honest songwriting. John discovered his voice at 12 when performing in a school talent show gave a shy, quiet kid the confidence to be seen. He began writing songs at 15, with his first song, 'Home', and continued performing throughout his teenage years. After years away from music, John is returning with his most personal work yet. Drawing on his experience of growing up gay in a small town and the end of a 12-year relationship, his upcoming heartbreak album explores love, loss and rediscovering yourself after letting someone go.
