Sonya Iwasiuk is a Vancouver-based mixed-media artist, songwriter, and educator whose work explores memory, place, and human connection. Raised in Northern Alberta, she was a free-spirited, endlessly creative child who spent her days exploring, imagining, making, and finding wonder in the world around her. Not much has changed. Alongside her visual art practice, Sonya writes all of her own lyrics, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and the stories of the people she loves. She composes her music using Suno, blending heartfelt storytelling with contemporary music technology to create songs about love, resilience, healing, gratitude, and hope. Having lived through some very difficult seasons, Sonya embraces life with deep gratitude and believes every day is worth celebrating. That outlook inspired the title of her debut album, One Beautiful Life, a collection of songs that reflects her belief in finding beauty, meaning, and joy after hardship.
