Country artist Randy Matthews was born and raised in the culturally rich town of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. He began writing music at 15 years old and recorded two albums as a teenager. As an adult, he pursued other interests but has recently returned to his passion for writing and performing. He has since developed a strong fanbase in Newfoundland through live shows and online performances. Randy cites Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Chris Stapleton as his major influences, and he considers Newfoundland traditional icon Roy Payne as his biggest local influence. He has performed at well-known venues on the island such as Woody Point Heritage Theatre, Norris Point Town Hall, Mile One Growlers Game, The Gathering, and Marble Mountain. He is released a new album in 2022 and was a nominee for Country Artist of the Year 2022 with Music NL.
