God Made a Mother
Behind the Lyric: “God Made A Mother” When I wrote these lyrics, I wanted to highlight and put emphasis on the appreciation that fathers have for the mothers of their children. The song begins with a father’s admission; the father speaking to God. Verse 1: "I can’t," “I can’t raise the little thing all by myself.” and Verse 2: "I won’t,” “I won’t bring the little thing up all by myself”. Verses 1 and 2 aren't about a lack of capability, they are actually about the honor of recognition. It’s the man realizing that while he can provide, protect, and love, there is a specific frequency of nurture, or a "divine" element, that only a mother carries. It’s an appreciation for the men who stand back in awe of what a woman does and can realize that God created mothers to fill the gaps that only mothers can fill. To all the men who see the "heavy hearts" and the "tired feet" and say thank you, this song is one for your entire family. “God Made A Mother” is available now on streaming platforms. more

Vena Amor
This song was difficult for me to complete lyrically and melodically, as I feared I would miss the mark at all of the emotion I was trying to convey. It is a declaration that true commitment isn't held together by a band of gold, but by an invisible, unbreakable rhythm you both share for one another, in your blood. The lyric explores the ancient topic of “Vena Amoris” or the vein of love; which is the belief that a vein ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand straight to the heart—which is why wedding rings are worn on that finger. “Straight from the hand. Right to the heart…” I hope you feel it all. ❤️ sammileemore

Ladder of Laughter
This song is about radical resilience and finding joy in defiance. Choosing laughter, creativity and being yourself in a society that tells you to choose silence and conformity. It’s about being unapologetically exactly who you are. more
