Liking someone who’s in a relationship is always a losing battle, so this universal issue felt like something I could express through the lyrics.
Let your Lover Go started as an experiment to write about love in an unconventional way. The original demo was recorded on holiday in a dusty log cabin using an iPhone and an old Macbook and some of that original guitar recording is still present in the final version giving it as much grit as we could get away with.
Thematically I wanted to create something really cheeky and overconfident and therefore thought this out-of-character perspective would be fun for a bombastic ode to the overdriven ego.more
