The Archives is a project in which I am digitizing my personal recording archives spanning from around 1993-2007. These archives span a number of formats, microcassette, four track cassette, minidisc, and recordings stored on various digital storage media. I often question the purpose of the project, but ultimately if nothing else it functions as a window into my musical and technological progression over a significant portion of my musical life. It might be a little nostalgic and self-indulgent, but publishing the recordings publicly allow greater access and sharability for those involved in the recordings, as well as creating the potential for the digital versions to outlast the physical media on which the recordings were originally created. That's the theory anyway, only time will tell how it all works out. In the meantime, enjoy the musical wanderings of a teenager from Tennessee who woke up middle aged in Massachusetts.
