Aaron Kavanagh is not a musician, not a songwriter, not a vocalist, and not a producer. Hell, he’s barely even a human.
By no rights should Kavanagh be near music; yet, for some reason, he had a catalogue of sat-on tunes that he was too embarrassed to release into the world, and now you get to see why!
As his thirties approached, Kavanagh became increasingly depressed and cynical and decided, in some last-ditch effort to preserve his youth, to release his first (and, God willing, only) album, titled “The Depression Demos.” “The Depression Demos” is a compilation of songs Kavanagh wrote before turning thirty, and which he released on the last day of his twenties.
This album was slap-dashed together in January 2024 (Kavanagh’s birthday is on the 31st) on Audacity. Kavanagh’s intent was post-punk gothic folk which blended understated gallows humour with laconic and abstract but poignant lyrics about various societal ills, generational trauma, and personal strife, but the result
