Cozy in The Black is a Florida-based post-punk revival band fusing gritty guitar riffs, pulsing basslines, dynamic drums, and angst-driven vocals. Founded by Josephine Selbeau (vocals) and Dominique Battle (bass), and joined by Erick Heckard (guitar) and Jeremiah Alexander (drums), the band calls their sound “Afro-Futurist Witch Doctor Punk.” Their music explores figures in African spirituality, English folklore, and Greek mythology, using mythic imagery to explore identity and emotion. Known for high-energy live shows, Cozy in The Black centers Black visibility in alternative music and creates space for catharsis, movement, and transformation.
