Long before becoming a gallerist, I was deeply involved with music. I started learning the keyboard and taking singing classes at the Children’s Palace when I was over 4 years old. Then being admitted into Vietnam National Academy of Music felt very much a natural transition, where I studied classical piano & accordion and a bit of jazz by playing ragtime pieces and transcriptions of jazz standards. Throughout my teenage years, I always wanted to become a professional musicians but life had another plan for me…I ended up working in fashion for 8 years and occasionally sang covers and played music at some venues in Hanoi…Fast forward into my early 30s, I started to explore songwriting after attending an online music initiation workshop by my Chilean musician and composer friend Salas Sandoval and immediately penned my first song after a two-hour session with him. Since then, songwriting’s become my favourite way of musically expressing myself with deeply personal and intimate melodies..
