Husbands is a band that has been apart as much as it has been together. Danny and Wil got their start in OKC, releasing 23 home-recorded lofi beach pop singles in one year. Wil moved to work on a grad degree in Washington, DC and Danny worked as a computer engineer in Oklahoma City. In 2015, they released Golden Year, a sunny, reverb-drenched collection of beach punk accompanied by Brian Wilson-esque melodies. They moved to OKC together for a couple of years, playing live shows and festivals, including opening for Smash Mouth - an on-brand move for Wil and Danny. Now, for their upcoming LP, After the Gold Rush Party (Cowboy 2.0 Records), Husbands find themselves apart again. This time Danny jet-set to Costa Rica and Seattle, where he currently resides, leaving Wil in OKC. Where Golden Year was a blissful summery garage-pop riff on love, friendships, and the creative process itself, After the Gold Rush Party adds no-wave, garage punk, and a little tropicália into the Husbands blend.
